The brief
Villani's is a New York Italian–style bakery in Charlotte where everything is made in-house, from scratch, and the line out the door proves it. Amanda and her team are busy running a bakery — they didn't have time to run a website and a 29,000-follower social audience too.
How we approached it
We built a minimal website that feels like the bakery rather than a template, and we keep it current — when a cake price changes, the site changes the same week. On social, we found what actually works for a neighborhood bakery: hyper-local, timely posts. Snow-day closures, what's fresh this morning, the Valentine's Day counter. Not campaigns — neighborliness.
Then we did something counterintuitive: we posted less. Fewer posts with more intent, each one earning its place.
Where it stands today
Posting less, engagement went up 25% month over month, and Facebook engagement doubled in February. But the number that matters is what happens off the feed: in one recent month, nearly 4,500 people took a direct action from Google — got directions, called, or clicked through to the site. That's foot traffic, and one reviewer put the reason plainly: "Best bakery within 50 miles."
